Tranquil
About.
Designed for introspective spaces like museums, art pavilions, and exhibitions, Tranquil is a furniture piece that evokes stillness through its quiet presence. Its materiality, rooted in restraint and balance, enriches the context rather than occupying it — inviting pause, observation, and a moment of calm within immersive environment

Process.
The form of Tranquil emerges from the inherent behavior of wood, shaped through two key gestures — tapering and splitting. Tapering allows for structural efficiency, reducing material where strength remains uncompromised, while splitting flanges the wood outward, expanding the seating surface without adding mass. Crafted in steam beech and finished with a warm coffee stain, the bench carries a soft matte texture that deepens its natural grain and presence.

Outcome.
The final bench rests with a poised, balanced presence — visually light yet grounded. The taper and split gestures give it a sense of openness and flow, allowing it to quietly integrate into its surroundings. With softened edges, a warm finish, and uninterrupted surfaces, Tranquil invites the user without instruction — offering a calm moment of rest, observation, or simply stillness within any introspective setting.

Award.
Tranquil has been awarded with CEPT Excellence Award (S 2023).
